Alltel Arena is located in North Little Rock Arkansas and has a seating capacity of over 18,000 people. This stadium is seated on the banks of the Arkansas river, and connects the town of North Little Rock with the Arkansas state capital, Little Rock. This 370,000 square foot arena is home to a wide variety of events including sports, concerts and conventions.
For sporting events, the Alltel Arena is home to the Arkansas Twisters Arena football team, and has hosted the Harlem Globetrotters, the 2000 Sun Belt Conference men’s college basketball tournament, the 2003 and 2006 SEC women’s college basketball tournament as well as professional bull riding. The Alltel Arena opened its doors in October of 1999 at a cost of $83 million. The Alltel corporation paid for $7 million of the construction cost for the building, and thus received the naming rights for this contribution. Through donations from the state and local governments, when the arena opened, it was already fully funded.
